VOLUNTEER

Volunteer Registration

We are so excited that you are interested in volunteering with Meals on Wheels of Odessa.

At the very core of our mission, we deliver meals to our clients. In order to do this, we rely on our network of volunteers.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life. They vary in age from senior citizens to high schoolers. They come from diverse backgrounds, and each brings something unique to the table.

If you’re looking for a place to belong where you can meet new people and spend your time doing something worthwhile, this is the place for you!

Volunteer Opportunities

Our volunteers do much more than simply delivering a hot meal each day. In addition to presenting them with a friendly face and an encouraging word, they ensure the recipient is safe in their home and feeling well. For so many this volunteer may be the only person the client will see or talk to that day.

The volunteer truly does bring the outside world to many and we are honored and grateful for their assistance.

Meals on Wheels of Odessa delivers over 30 routes Monday through Friday, and we need volunteers to help make those deliveries.

Volunteer

A Meals on Wheels of Odessa (MOWO) Volunteer will be assigned a route to deliver. We try and limit each route to 20 stops to help maximize the volunteer’s time. Volunteers will start at the MOWO Office where they will receive two bags, one full of hot food and one with cold items. Of course delivering the meal is at the core of our mission, but the daily wellness check and friendly visit our clients receive from our volunteers is extremely important. Combatting loneliness in our senior population is so important and as a MOWO volunteer, you will be on the front lines.

Here at the MOWO office, we plate the food into individually packaged and sealed containers for our clients. The meals are then packed into their insulated delivery containers so that our volunteer delivery drivers can get them out to clients.
